Introductory - Intro to Figure Skating

Intro to Figure Skating is an introductory program that teaches skills to children that have an interest in learning how to figure skate. Skaters must be 4-8 years old and able to stand up and skate on their own. Skaters will be taught in small groups by a NCCP Certified Coach with a coach to skater ratio of 1:7. This program will create a fun, enthusiastic atmosphere to learn correct technique in fundamental skills such as edges, stroking, jumps, spins, and musical interpretation.

Skaters do not have to start in figure skates, but it is expected that they transition to figure skates within the first 2-3 sessions of the program. Correct equipment is important part of skill acquisition. Helmets are required until the program lead has identified the skater has progressed to a point where it may be removed.

The Intro to Figure Skating program also features an off-ice component with RINK Testify Performance. This component will take place in the gym following the on-ice session. Off-ice training is incorporated to improve balance, flexibility, strength, and coordination.

Development - 3 on 3

Here at the RINK you are always involved in the play and shifts are short to keep the pace of the game up. This game will allow for you to:

  • Develop faster reaction time
  • Work to improve your skills
  • Learn to play in confined spaces
  • Play around the net both offensively and defensively
  • Develop more confidence with the puck
  • Get a cardiovascular work-out

Players will be signed up as individuals and 2 teams will be made each week. Teams will be rotated weekly, with pinnies to differentiate teams so players play with all players in the 3 vs 3 program.

Players will receive a RINK Jersey which they keep after the program.  We will require players to bring this jersey each week to help split up teams.
