The Kelowna & Winnipeg Ringette Camp is for players ages 8 to 15. The skaters will be divided in 2-3 age groups depending on the number of players in attendance based upon age and ability.
The EDGE Power Skating Camps feature feature a goalie specific power skating camp ran in unison with the EDGE Power Skating Camp for Players, the Goalie Power Skating (PEPP) Camp is specifically designed for goalies to work on position-specific skating techniques with a dedicated RINK Goalie Development coach. Goalies will focus on skating and puck handling ability that challenges goalies outside of normal positional demands. PEPP stands for: Powerskating, Position-specific movement, Edgework, and Puck-handling. Goalies will work on c-cuts, T-pushes, shuffles, balance & edges and many more skating techniques over the course of the week while also getting reps in net during drill portions of the player camp.
Yes, we can accommodate ringette players in the EDGE Power Skating Camps. The skating drills will be the same for hockey players as well as ringette players, however during the stick drills, the ringette players will be using a ring instead of a puck.
If you would like to sign up your ringette player for a EDGE Power Skating camp, please comment in the notes of the registration that they are a ringette player.
We limit each group to 16 players. There is a lot of individual attention between the players and instructors in the on-ice as well as the off-ice sessions. The Player to Coach ratio will be 5:1.
Full equipment will be worn for the On-Ice sessions. Please ensure that the skates are sharp. A 5/8” radius of hollow is recommended, which is a flatter hollow than the typical 3/8” sharpening.
We will be using pucks, so please make sure to bring a stick each day and if possible, bring an older second stick to be used for the Off-Ice stickhandling and shooting sessions.
For Off-Ice workouts, please make sure you bring shorts, an extra pair of dry socks, a T-shirt and running shoes. The running shoes should have good support and should be well cushioned in the sole and heel for jumping exercises.
Do not leave valuables in the locker room or at the rink, Edge of Excellence is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
Snacks and lunch are not provided. Please pack plenty of snack items and a water bottle. Please label the lunch bags, water bottles and other items.
Each skater will be provided with a RINK jersey on the first day of camp. The jerseys do fit smaller, please take this in consideration when registering your child. Should you have ordered the wrong size, there will be extras, but in limited supply.
On the first day, each player will have their skating videotaped and their skating will be analyzed by our coaches and recorded. Each player’s personal video will contain an analysis of their skating with voice-over and telestrator markings by the coaches doing the analysis.
Please allow 4 weeks for the coaches to complete the videos.
The videos can be viewed on-line, and you will receive an email that will contain a password and link to the video.
The email will be sent to the email address you provided us with when you registered. Please contact us if your email address has changed or if you have not received your video after 4 weeks and we will try to get the video out to you as soon as possible.
