Our Philosophy

Here at the RINK, we believe that each athlete has a unique approach to their respective roles on the ice. While any position encompasses a vast array of technical, physiological and psychological inputs, each athlete assembles a distinct bundle of performance assets. When working with any client, our emphasis is to work within the confines of each customer’s approach…regardless of “style”. While there are fundamentals that must be instilled in any approach, and at all levels of play, the RINK believes in working within the context of the specific athlete’s game.

Our Approach

As an athlete progresses through his/her career, countless unique experiences are implanted upon this player’s mind. Through these experiences, hockey players begin to build an approach. This approach combines these experiences with core fundamentals and the individual’s distinct strengths and limitations. During a RINK experience, athletes will seek to hone, refine and repackage this distinct approach. A combination of technical enhancements and physiological guidance (where necessary) will, in turn, drive one’s psychological game forward. Technical, physiological, psychological training.

Off-Ice Development with Testify Performance

We take a multi-faceted approach to in-season off-ice development. The process begins with player profiling consisting of both off-ice and on-ice testing, a group focused needs analysis, and collaborative goal setting between our professionals, the RINK Player and Goalie Development teams, and coaches. 

Our professionals will help educate players along the way on proper warm-up/activation & cool down/recovery techniques to ensure that they are prepared for the high demands of the season.  Our periodized off-season program will make sure that player's are not only improving but peaking at the right time. Team education seminars on topics such as nutrition and hydration, sleep and recovery, as well as in game respiratory techniques are also available for groups looking to take their performance to the next level.

Player Development

Our R1 June segement is for players eager to get back on the ice and start their training and development early. Limited in spots our June program is primarily focused on skating techniques to help players become more efficient and explosive skaters. Workouts are available with RINK Testify Performance during this time  >> Fill in intake form to be contacted

R1 Summer Program

  • Runs from July 3rd to August 18th
  • 3 x 75 Min. On-Ice Sessions/Week on the full size rink.
  • Sessions include: Position Specific Work, Game Specific Skills, Small Area Games, In-Tight Attacking Skills, Conditioning & Individualized 1:1 skill specific work.
  • Full-Ice Scrimmage
  • Added Amenities: Laundry Service & Skate Sharpening provided.
  • On Ice/Off Ice monitoring between Player Development & Testify Performance.
  • Jersey/Apparel Package
  • Maximum 6 Defence and 9 Forwards
  • Only 15 Spots available/Group

R1OT is the continuation of our R1 program for the remaining 2 weeks of summer. As players filter out to training camps, depending on the date, some players have later start times than others. This extra 2 weeks allows players to stay on the ice and ready for camp while working on skills and taking part in scrimmages.

Goalie Development

7 x 1 on 1 Session's

  • Available Monday to Sunday
  • Available to Goaltenders from July 3rd - September 1st

7 x Tactical Group Session

  • 1 ice session per week focused on 2 read drills and 1 competitive drill. Our tactical sessions are focused on delievering goalies game simulated drills that have high variability forcing goalies to think extrinsically seeing what is in front of them.

7 x PEPP Group Session

  • 1 ice session per week focused on the foundation of a goalies game – skating.
  • PEPP symbolizes that components of Power Skating, Edge Control, Position Specific Movement, and Puckhandling for our R1 goalies. 

RINK Testify Performance

Workouts available from May onwards >> Fill in intake form to be contacted

  • Up to  5 Testify Performance Off- Ice Training Sessions (Weekly)
  • Periodization program is composed of strength and conditioning, speed and movement sessions,
  • Access to services to enhance performance with off- ice testing, massage therapy, athletic therapy, chiropractic, and yoga.

R1 Teams

The R1 Teams Program follows the R1 Player Development schedule with additonal 1 on 1 and tactical training sessions.

On-Ice

  • 7 x 1v1 Sessions available between July 3rd - September 1st
  • 14 x Team Practices (7 with RINK Goalie Coach in attendance)
  • 7 x Scrimmage/Game
  • 3 x Tactical Sessions - Sessions are focused on delievering goalies game simulated drills that have high variability forcing goalies to think extrinsically seeing what is in front of them.

Custom Programming

  • RINK Team Goalies receive their own RINK Goalie Coach with the program for a team practice 
  • Direct feedback from practice and games are applied to the goalie 1v1 session to have a customized approach
  • Personal meeting at the beginning of the program to set up objectives with a focused approach on moving forward to meet future goals
