RINK is honoured to announce that we will be assuming the responsibility of awarding the Cole Hamblin Memorial Fund annually to a RINK Athlete.

On November 5th of 2014 the RINK family lost one of their own, Cole Hamblin. Cole was lost to an aggressive cancer battle. Cole's legacy will never be forgotten at the RINK, as his love for hockey is bestowed in everyone that walks through the door.

RINK is pleased to be able to present the Cole Hamblin Memorial Fund, a $1500 scholarship awarded annually to a RINK Athlete. This scholarship is eligible to be used towards R1 Off-Season Training in the summer months. This award will be given to a RINK Athlete between the ages of 14-18 who demonstrates sportsmanship and leadership qualities, as well as participates respectfully and enthusiastically both on and off the ice. The recipient of this award will be chosen by a panel of RINK Professionals including both on-ice and off-ice staff on May 31st of each year.

Each year the RINK holds a memorial tournament in honour of Cole. Many players who play in this tournament were friends of Cole and are either still playing the game of hockey or are in the work force. This celebration is a great way to bring everyone together as one, to play the game we all love, and to remember Cole. In continuation of Cole's legacy at the RINK, we award the “Hammer Bucket” every Friday at the conclusion of our Summer Camps, to an aspiring athlete that demonstrates hard work, commitment and a good attitude. The addition of the memorial fund to RINK Programs only strengthens the tradition of remembering Cole.

We are proud to give a RINK Athlete this award to continue remembering Cole’s legacy. To apply for the scholarship award please submit a minimum of 250 words describing how you have demonstrated sportsmanship and leadership qualities and what being awarded this fund means to you. Applications will be accepted until May 15th, 2021 & the recipient of the scholarship will be contacted on May 31st, 2021.

Please submit applications to: jon@therink.ca by May 15th, 2021.
